Happy Birthday Brad, yesterday.

Yesterday was Brad's birthday, which happens to be the exact same day as Avril Lavigne's. So, we threw it down xXxhArDCoRexXx style * :) * :) to celebrate. Pictures from the part to come, but for now, check out this awesome brad and avril logo (that we put on little 1" buttons),

And the invitations (that we printed off on 11x17 paper like band posters).

Good times... I can't want to post the pictures!

Some Good Reading

So I was listening to a really boring lecture earlier today and decided to check out my man, Glenn Beck and see what was going on today. He interviewed a guy named David Freddoso, author of a new book called The Case Against Barack Obama: The Unlikely Rise and Unexamined Agenda of the Media's Favorite Candidate. The interview was very interesting (much more so than the lecture). Here's the link if you want to read it:
http://www.glennbeck.com/content/articles/article/196/15318/

I went ahead and ordered the book and read the first chapter online. All I can say is, wow. People have no idea who this guy is and what his intentions are. Now I'm not a huge McCain fan, but I'd rather vote for someone who is...well... the most radical leftist in politics. Disclaimer: This book does not really make a case FOR McCain, only a case AGAINST Obama. Unfortunately, McCain is the only other alternative. Anyway, Whitney will probably get mad that I got on here and wrote this, but everyone should read this. If you're interested in reading a chapter, follow this link:

Happy Reading!

Sunday Shopping Spree?

Just to let everyone know, my friend Coryn is having a sale in her Etsy shop, Miss Sailboat. She has some great earrings for $2 or less. I have three pairs myself and have been gifting them all summer long!

Things I would buy if I hadn't already overflowed my earring collection:Green Plaid Earrings - only $1.50!

The underside of the Mandy earrings - I love the fabric she lines the backs with.

Some highlights of my summer purchases:
Hennessy Earrings

Into the Wild Earrings

Moral of today (or maybe tomorrow): Go to Miss Sailboat to take advantage of this!

today

It's strange how today seemed to rush by without any thought that it was September 11. Brad and I recalled where we were when we found out about the attacks and how that day went. We also remembered all the emails we were sent about the conspiracy theories (like type in the flight numbers F76 and F23 (or something) in Wingdings and it makes a plane running into two rectangles and like a skull and crossbones).

Regardless of that...
I would feel ungrateful if I did not mention those men and women who serve our country and also those who died that morning seven years ago.

Let's not forget.

In the Meantime....

I'm still trying to catch up on life (I can't get a memory card to transfer images to my computer and I forgot my camera on our trip to Seattle), but in the meantime, an invitation:
We are going to the fair on Friday, September 12. We'll probably leave around 3/4. Anyone who would like to come is invited. Anyone who would like to meet us there is invited. And anyone who thinks this is the stupidest idea ever and would never come even if I paid them a million dollars to go is also invited.
Admission is $8 or $6 if you buy your ticket early at Smith's.

BHHFR 08

We spent Labor Day Weekend at Brianhead for the BrianHead Horito Family Reunion 08 (the new Labor Day tradition). Although there were MANY awesome pictures from this trip, I feel that I'm overloading this blog with new pictures. This one pretty much sums it up.
I always enjoy spending time with the fam - Brad tolerates it well enough (we're quite the crazy bunch).
The weekend was filled with lots of food, sundaes, The Little Mermaid - Ariel's beginning, sparklers, glow bracelets, forts, farts, girl bonding, "family history" stories about our parents/grandparents/great-grandparents, lots of picture taking, ukulele playing, some dancing, reading, and plenty of other great events.

Rating: A+

Travelin

Moving from Napa to get home in time for the first BYU game.

We towed this little guy behind my car.

Kind of anti-climatic when we totally killed them. The UCLA-Tennessee game? Way more intense.

Farewell San Francisco

We went on one last trip to San Francisco before the end of the summer.

Preparing for the descent.

We drove down Lombard St, which Brad HATED.

Then we tandem biked the Golden Gate Bridge.

Brad said that this bridge would not be a good one to live under because the traffic is so loud. He has this new obsession with being a bum and living under bridges.

I love San Francisco!

An action photo with our bike. I rode the front the whole way across, then we switched. Back was much easier.

Parents Come to Town

Over the 22/23 ish, my parents came to visit!! We had a lot of fun and many adventures.

Coit Tower

Exploring San Francisco

Yummy crab eating on Fisherman's Wharf (Kellen ate like three by himself)

We went on a safari at Safari West, which was awesome. We got to ride in old Dodge trucks that are used on safaris and see all kinds of animals (just north of Calistoga - who'd have thought?):
I'm too lazy to look up the type of African cow this is, but this one is deformed (Watusi Cattle?). They have 22 of 27 of the antelope that exist in Africa or something impressive like that.

A zebra!! Hooray. Not my favorite kind though because this one has the gray in the black and white stripes.

We got to sit on top!

A trip to Sebastopol (my dad found it in some magazine) to taste the famous gravenstein apples and this really good apple pie.

Also in Sebastopol, Screamin Mimi's - an amazing ice cream shop with delicious flavors. Mine was some oreo peppermint (I think) but my mom had lemon ice cream which was DELICIOUS!

On Saturday we visited Uncle Roger in Concord. Unfortunately we didn't take ONE picture so we can't even prove we hung out with him. But we did. And we had lunch with him and Aunt Cathy and Ryan.
On our way (out of the way) to Oakland to drop off my parents and Kellen at the airport, we stopped at Berkley.

I'm not gonna lie, the campus was amazing, there was an Urban Outfitters and an American Apparel across the street, people were selling stuff on the streets, a little forest existed in the middle of campus - not to mention all the cool old buildings.
It made me a little sad to return to BYU.
