B-money

So I guess this is part 2 of the daily double. Last night I went to Smith's while waiting for Whitney and as I was walking out, I heard this guy behind me say, "Hey, Bro." I turned around and lo and behold, the famous B-money. He was wearing his normal huge headphones plugged into a Walkman (apparently some people still use those) and a shiny gold hoodie. Amazing. He asked me if I could give him a ride home, so of course I responded by asking, "You're not going to go all weird on me, are you?" And the response? "No, Bro, I have over 150,000 hits on YouTube and I'm LDS." Good enough for me. So we got in my car, his headphones still on, and I could hear that he was listening to himself. He asked if he could put his CD into my player. Naturally I said yes and we listened to his stuttered-"rapping" over sampled music the rest of the way to his house on 215 E 300 S.

After I pulled up to his house, he asked me if I could help him bring in his groceries. I thought that was weird since he didn't seem to have any problem carrying them out of Smith's. But I can now say I've been inside the house of B-money. And it was what I expected: a freaking mess. Now to the best part. He said, "Bro, do you have like two minutes? I want to show you what I do." I was expecting to see a collection of his CDs, but instead he brings out a binder and says, "Let me show you the payscale." Whoa! This guy's totally trying to get me to sell something. And you know what it was? Those credit card sliding machines. And then he went on to show me an example of how he sells it to businesses. Pretty impressive. He gave me four business cards - one for me and one for three friends of mine who would be interested - and committed me to get back to him on Monday with my decision. Apparently he's looking for committed, hard-working people. So if you fit that description, I have three business cards.

He does the gentlemen thing and walks me to my car, but not before pointing to his tree with a mattress (used) leaning against it with a sign taped to it that says: $110 OBO. Yes, he's selling a used mattress for over 100 bucks. And I did see some stainage. And no, I didn't have any friends who I thought were interested in his used mattress. And that's the story of my encounter with Provo's hottest celebrity.

(if Brad posts his little diddy)
Good story.
After watching the end of School of Rock, apparently I had a dream that I was in a band. According to Brad, in the middle of the night I told him, "I can't remember the bass line!" So he doo-doo-dooed me a little bass line and I said thanks and went back to sleep.
In fact, I WAS dreaming that I was in a band and that last minute, the bass player asked me to play her part because she wanted to sing (I'm 80% sure that this is the bass player from School of Rock). Unfortunately, I played the same note the whole time like she does during practice (and I made up a few little variations). I remember hearing the bass line Brad gave me and thinking to myself, "Oh shoot, I just totally botched that one."

just another day in the life....

I wish that I had something awesome and life-changing to write about, but really there isn't much going on.

It was nice to be in Vegas and see the sun. And our fams.
And it was nice to eat at In-N-Out.
And to watch House.

Now, we get to look forward to Cody's birthday and the BYU/Utah game.

Until we enter exciting life, please feel free to indulge in my latest obsession/worry through this article. If you can't tell, I'm preparing for the plight of our nation. I'm definitely paranoid about the probably "new depression" (so named by Coryn).

Important Message

Brad now has a blog through which he can offend as many people as he would like. Or defend???

Whatever the case, it's bradthoughts-gov.blogspot.com. Don't worry, I'm still letting him post his two cents, it's just that this way, our "hey look at what's up in our life" blog doesn't become heavily texted with political jargon (which I may or may not understand entirely).

Good news - I got hired! So I now have a job! Contract signed Thursday!

today is a big day

I'm going to make my first opinionated post.
As a supporter of Proposition 8 (I supported and volunteered for Question 2 [the same thing] in Nevada while in high school), it makes me so sad/sick to see the awful discrimination towards members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints by those who view us as "ignorant."
But today, a silver lining. In the USA Today, there is an article about Elton John's support of Proposition 8.

[from the article]
"I don't want to be married. I'm very happy with a civil partnership. If gay people want to get married, or get together, they should have a civil partnership," said John. "The word marriage, I think, puts a lot of people off. You get the same equal rights that we do when we have a civil partnership. Heterosexual people get married. We can have civil partnerships."

Three cheers for Elton John!
I always knew I liked him and those big glasses.
I told Brad we should go buy some and have "Elton John Day" in honor of this discovery.

Last Home Game

It was a tad chilly, but not so bad, at BYU's last home game on Saturday.
Brad's feet got cold, so he borrowed my boots.

And I wore his shoes.

ps sorry i'm too lazy to turn that boots picture the right way.

friday nights

In case you didn't know, Brad's cousin Cody is in a band. Brad's cousin Cody also broke his collar bone playing flag football. Brad's cousin Cody's injury required surgery on Wednesday. Consequently, Brad's cousin Cody needed a substitute for his band's performance on Friday.

Luckily, Brad's cousin Cody has Brad.

And so, Brad filled in for Cody during his band's performance on Friday night at Yoasis.

Brad learned to play the bongos. I think I could rock those...One-armed Cody still contributed on the harmonica.

{October} Halloween

Since July, I've been planning Brad's and my Halloween costumes. We were going to be a saloon girl and an outlaw and I had the cutest dress planned.
One week before Halloween, I couldn't find the right red lace, so a change in plans was in order. After brainstorming a list of unsuccessful costume ideas (the politically incorrect options: a Mexican and a border patrol cop, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt [and borrowing Brad's little black cousins to tote around], the Brad wasn't up for it option: HSM3's Troy and Gabriella), we decided to be a flapper and a mobster.
It took me forever to find this stupid red confetti dot fabric since everywhere seemed to be sold out of it. But I found it. And I was pretty impressed with my hair-shortening bob.
(This picture is post partying so it's looking a little frizzy)

{October} A Night on the Town

After spending Halloween Friday sewing my costume, shortening my hair, and perfecting my make-up, at 9 pm, I was ready to go out. Brad and I had no idea what we were doing since my plans only went as far as dressing up.
Fortunately, we got a hold of Tricia during a long list of phoning a friend, and we met up with Treesh, Keith, Jenn, and Misha at Jenn's house.
Misha was still dressed up from work, and after convincing/coercing everyone else into dressing up, we went out.

We decided to "crash" the [mostly singles] Disturbia party at Alpine Village. It was totally fun! Since we're married, we felt sort of uninhibited - everyone there was trying to impress each other, but we really had no one to impress which let to some interesting outbursts from Keith...
Walking to the party, someone said, "Hey it's Al Capone!" which truly made my night since I was worried no one would know Brad was a mobster.

Our Guitar Heroes.

The Asians.

After the party, we decided to head over to Sonic for some ice cream...
Brad loved Misha's NOBAMA tat.

Which all made for a fun and eventful Halloween.

{October} Home Goods

With the shaky state of the economy, I've reacted in two ways. 1: I am mentally in this "save, use, we have nothing because it's the depression" mode, and 2: I want to buy nice things that will "last long."
Because of option 1, I have begun saving everything, like empty jars and cans, which I think is driving Brad crazy (as if I didn't have enough stuff already).
Because of option 2, I'm tempted to buy "quality" items like boots that cost much more than is necessary (no purchases have been made yet, but we'll see).

The good news is - something about being thrifty reminds me of old-fashioned, country life. So things like sewing, quilting, knitting, and crocheting are high on my likes list. Another activity that has skyrocketed to the top: bread making. My KitchenAid is failing me; it refuses to knead bread for more than five minutes, but besides that, this whole bread making is working out quite nicely. Plus I like having homemade bread.

About two weeks ago, we made some bread and it rose A LOT... leaving me with these super monster loaves just in time for Halloween.

{October} The Fate of the Pumpkins

So, apparently you're not supposed to carve pumpkins until like, the week of Halloween.
Here's what happened to ours:
This was probably the next weekend - yes the black is mold.
They look so much sadder when they're all wrinkled.

Halloween night. They were smashed flat, so this angle showed the most of the pumpkin.

VOTE

During October, we saw this gum at the checkout of Hollywood Video (we were renting Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day, which was very cute [cute clothes ;)] and very entertaining).

Don't forget to Vote!

Even if it seems like the race has already been set by the East Coast, the fates are not sealed until the West Coast finishes it out. So get out there and put your two cents in!!

{October} Pumpkin Carving

October 17, Little Rat invited us all over to Jason's house to carve pumpkins. I was really excited because I had all these morbid ideas of Calvin and Hobbes inspired suffering pumpkin heads and a big pumpkin eating a little pumpkin.
She had some great little snacks of all of our favorite snack foods (Jenn|Bagel Bites, Rat|Mini Corn Dogs, Me|Buffalo Wings) and then we all descended to the basement to carve away.

Group Shot.

Setting up the pumpkins for a family photo. Ours are all the sad looking ones (I swear this isn't a complex).

There weren't enough candles for our sad faces, but I LOVE the big pumpkin eating the little pumpkin!!

{October} A Review.

So, since I've been a major slacker and haven't been blogging regularly (or at all for October), I have some amazing news: this week will be October catch up week.
That's right, I spent all morning NOT doing my Nutrition assignment due tomorrow, NOT studying for one of my three midterms this week, NOT making mockups of my fall dress and/or my Anniversary dress, but by creating posts for each day of this week to catch everyone (ok, Britt, Coryn, and Hil) up on what we've been doing in October.
I learned the coolest trick (alluded to by Jonathan Canlas) called "pre-blogging." Basically, you make all these posts and make the post date in the future and blogger will post them for you at the designated time.
So, while I'm going crazy making patterns, studying for Art History, learning Physics, figuring out Sports Nutrition, assembling a paper case book, running, and going to Enrichment, you can enjoy posts about pumpkins and costumes and homemade bread.

In the meantime, you can enjoy these sneak peek pictures of our Halloween costumes.
