This morning, our alarm went off, as normal. I went back to sleep, as normal. Then life deviated from normal.
I started dreaming that me, Brad, and Brea were sitting in a room. Brea's tooth fell out, and she started choking on it. Desperately, she looked at me to help her. I began hitting her in the back (contemplating the Heimlich maneuver shortly) when Brad starting yelling at me.
Lately I've been thinking a lot (shocker, I know), and here were the results....
It all started with a wardrobe crisis in which I realized I only really LOVE 10% of what I have. This caused me to research Tim Gunn's 10 essentials from Tim Gunn's Guide to Style and essential lists from omiru.com.
Then I received an email with a funeral talk for my Aunt Darla (she's really my mom's cousin, but I call her Aunt Darla). It's REALLY long but very touching (and it's posted here). Aunt Darla's passing was unexpected, one of those that reminds you of the bigger picture. Her husband wrote the talk, and I love his optimism that comes through in the praise for his wife. This made all my other thoughts seem frivolous and unimportant compared to the big scheme of things.
{This week will probably be busy with midterms and midterms and midterms, and thanks to the three and a half painful hours of the Oscars - which I have no desire to ever watch again - posting has been postponed to a later date}
Part four of Valentine's Day took place with me and Brad. It had snowed all day and Brad had been sick, but we still went through with our EXTRAVAGANT plans of staying in... with Chinese take-out (from Lotus Garden, which was AWESOME) and chocolate molten cakes (made by me!! hooray!) and the NBA SLAM DUNK CONTEST. That's right. Perfect formula for the best V-Day ever.
yummy Chinese.
Lotus Garden. It was awesome.
Chocolate Molten Cakes with Creme Anglaise (something like that)
from NBA.com/dunks - You have to admit that Nate Robinson had style... I loved that Krypto-Nate idea. I couldn't decide what part was my favorite... Dwight Howard dunking 12 feet (the anticipation was awesome), little man Nate jumping off the back of Howard, the neon greens....
But I think my absolute favorite had to be the Soulja Boy victory dances....What... our first dance remixed?! HOLLA!!!
Part three took place on Saturday morning-ish (Valentine's Day) with my sisters while Brad (who was going to be at work) was in our bedroom TRYING to sleep with a migraine (sorry!!). We spent four hours eating, chatting, laughing, and making Valentines (if you didn't get one from Risa, I don't know WHAT is up since she made like a hundred)...
Risa brought us yummy suckers (I'm eating mine right now) My pretty Valentines for my sisters.
Presents from Mommy!!
We like to take pictures of ourselves. Lauren made us all little signs according to which Sailor Moon character we are combined with the elementary school rhymes "girls go to mars...." type sayings.
There are ten pictures in all, but I'll only make you see three...America's Next Top Model. Well, except Tia's going for America's Next Top Emo Band Member.
We also made Risa try a chocolate dipped strawberry. Which was awesome. To watch. She hates fruit so this was a big step for her. The funniest part happens within the first thirty seconds, but I'm too lazy to edit it all, so I wouldn't be hurt if you stopped watching there....
(still fighting with blogger because apparently we like to have crooked pictures)
Part two of V-Day Love took place on Friday the 13th with my lovely friends from London.
Coryn brought me these cute mini cupcakes in a neopolitan box with a super cute tag (also crooked... stupid blogger). And Hil brought me a belated Christmas present: an awesome book about charm bracelets. It has my mind turning about all the themed bracelets I could make!!
(I'm fighting with blogger because they keep flipping my invitation picture sideways. whatever.)
V-Day Love celebrations started on Thursday this year with my [former] roommates coming over for our traditional girls party (fourth year in a row!).
I love getting together with everyone and catching up on good times. We even made little arts and crafts Valentines for our lovers. (Jenn's head shot missing. We forgot to take a group picture before she left... we'll re-enact when she returns from Hawaii).
We had my sisters over for dinner. Tia made Lauren a "Lauren is so smart" cake as a congratulations for placing 2nd and 3rd in a business competition in St. George that weekend. Poor Brad had to deal with this in his house....
A few months ago, I came up with this genius plan that Brad and I would dress up and dine in. This way we could cook fun and fancy meals that we normally wouldn't, and I could dress up. ;)
Last Saturday we had our first Dress Up Dine In night, and Brad concocted an awesome pork meal. And I got to try out my new smoky eye and a casual updo I saw in a magazine.
Then, Brad surprised me with Krispy Kreme's Valentine's Day doughnuts!! I had told him earlier that he didn't have to wait until Valentine's Day to get them for me, and so he went and bought them!! Now I could have one everyday until V-Day Love celebrations start!
This concludes the extensive catch-up. More prompt posts will now be posted.
Loved it. It's definitely plotted like a kids movie, but it's pretty funny. I even survived its 3-D-ness. Some of my favorite parts included Miss Spink and Miss Forcible. Miss Forcible was so... buxom that everytime she was on screen I couldn't help but giggle.
Since this semester is my last, I'm taking a couple of classes that I have always wanted to take but have never fit into my schedule. One of these is Beginning Theatre Make-Up.
We had to learn make-up basics for men... And Brad conveniently had work, so I had G-On and Brian "volunteer" to help me out. G-On's face color was SO CLOSE to his own, but the flash makes it look a bit off.
Last week, we learned glamour make-up, and I learned to do the smoky eye. I'm quite pleased with my results.
