May Day!
Hawaii 5-0

Basically my dad is getting pretty old.
i.e. he turned 50.
And so, we celebrated with a Hawaii 5-0 party/day.
What did he want?
To eat lunch with coupons, go to Dairy Queen and get a hot fudge sundae (also with buy-one-get-one free coupons), eat pot roast for dinner, and only invite immediate family.
So that's what he got.
When the girl at Dairy Queen asked him how he wanted his name written on his cake,
he replied, "to the coolest EVER."

Bishop even came over with some necessities for being old.
And of course, we had two cakes - chocolate molten cakes and ice cream cake.
The top right photo (Britt, the right is the one of my parents kissing) proves that being a weirdy photo kisser must be genetic.

May Day!
Tia's Pageant

Once upon a time, Tia decided that she wanted to be in a pageant.
And so, she entered the Miss Orem pageant...
And rocked it.
Even though the judges didn't place her... Something about being actually from Orem... haha.

However, I was super glad that she got to bunk with us for two weeks leading up to the pageant.
Aka the best two weeks ever.
It was definitely fun to pretend to be a pageant mom.
Here are pictures of our coolness:
We went to Pizzeria 712 afterward (after a giant travesty in the afternoon aka they're not open for lunch) with Aunt Janet and the girls.

Here's a video of Tia's talent, which is pretty sweet.

If you get ADD, watch it from 1:16 on.
If you get SUPER ADD, watch it from 1:20 on.

The Sunglasses Game!

Dear Friends,

It's that time of year. We are once again attempting to play the previously short-lived
Sunglasses Game.

Here's how it works:

1. You receive the sunglasses in the mail.

2. Take your photo with the sunglasses on (and take photos of your significant other(s), children, friends, and/or family wearing the sunglasses).

3. Email your photos to thesunglassesgame@gmail.com.

4. Mail the sunglasses to the next person on the list (last year postage was $2.50).

*** Please mail the sunglasses within 3-5 days of receiving them. Last year they got lost along the way and unfortunately, a lot of people weren't able to play. If you've had them for over a week and still haven't snapped a photo, just mail them on.

*** If you are planning on being out of town a lot but still want to play, let me know the dates you will be IN TOWN and I'll try to accommodate.
*** If you're pretty sure you won't snap a photo once you receive them, don't feel obligated to sign up. ;)

This year, there will only be one pair of sunglasses being sent around (since I think the double sunglasses got a bit confusing). I have ordered said pair and they are pretty awesome. They will be making their debut shortly.

So... if you'd like to play, you can comment on this post or email your address to thesunglassesgame@gmail.com.

California... Here We Come!!

Last weekend we took a little trip to LA via Vegas to see the Dodgers beat the Braves.

We started out the trip with some good food (and shopping!! not pictured): chicken at Cane's and frozen hot chocolate at Serendipity 3 (which Alisia LOVED).
Risa and Eric had a fried Oreo sundae, and Tia Brea had the giantest banana split - even though they ordered the smaller version.

Unfortunately, the beach was all cold and yucky, so Alisia and I laid out at the hotel pool instead before we ventured out to Dodger Stadium for the game.

The next day, the boys went to the beach while we went to The Huntington to see the rare Corpse flower in bloom (it's the ucky picture in the top right). Corpse flower - not so awesome, but the Huntington Library grounds? Amazing.
Basically, we fell in love with the place (and accidentally left the boys at the beach about two hours longer than they thought).

After our short stint in LA, we returned to the Vegas for some Bellagio water shows, my first time ever visiting the Las Vegas sign, and, of course, a visit to Amrita. No Vegas trip is complete without one.
I'm now sporting this orange streak in my hair (which will soon be purple - Amrita sent me home with some dye), and Alisia is rocking an amazing chocolate brown color because we're hot like that.

Thanks to the Rat and Jason for coming with us on our little adventure!

Good News: I have some May Days coming up soon (Tia's pageant, my dad's big 50, and an important announcement about my car).
